METHGOAT – Demo 2017 (2017)

Formed in Los Angeles, California, in 2017, Methgoat are an extreme metal band specialising in a savage combination of black metal, noise and the primitive aggression of war metal. Emerging from the American underground, the band developed an uncompromising musical identity built around heavily distorted guitars, chaotic percussion, abrasive vocals and an intentionally raw, oppressive atmosphere. Their debut recording, Demo 2017, released in November 2017, presents the early foundations of their sound, rejecting polished production and conventional songwriting in favour of relentless sonic violence and abrasive experimentation. Drawing comparisons with the bestial black/death metal tradition associated with bands such as Blasphemy, Conqueror and Revenge, Methgoat emphasise overwhelming intensity, distorted textures and an atmosphere of complete musical disorder. The demo captures the primitive spirit of underground black metal, establishing the band's direction before their subsequent recordings, including Demo '18 and the split release Unification Through Disabrahamic Terrorism with Human Agony.
